Over 6,500 people have signed up to Diabetes Digital Media’s (DDM) Hypo Program since its launch on 30 January.
The Hypo Program is an educational tool designed to increase awareness of hypoglycemia, or low blood glucose. The program marks the first collaboration between DDM and Novo Nordisk, aiming to empower people with diabetes through digital solutions.
Hypoglycemia can have a prominent impact on the lives of people with diabetes, particularly those treated with insulin. Learning how to manage hypoglycemia can take away the day-to-day stress of worrying about low blood glucose.
The Hypo Program is personalised across four streams. The patients stream is for people with diabetes, and can be used by friends of people with diabetes. The other three streams are for parents (or carers), teachers and healthcare professionals.
Through a series of educational videos and supporting resources, the Hypo Program is designed to improve knowledge of hypos, including the causes and treatments of hypos as well as how to prevent them.
One user said of the program, “I’ve had diabetes for over 14 years and found this to be the most useful education on hypos I’ve received yet. If you use insulin I would strongly recommend this app.”
Another said, “This is a superb resource for anyone with diabetes/carers. The quality of this app and the quantity of information it contains is incredible.”
The Hypo Program can be completed in your own time, at your own pace. Once you have completed the program, you are presented with a Hypo Program certificate. You can review all the information in the program any time you want, should you want a refresher.
The Hypo Program is available on iOS and Android, and online at hypoprogram.com.
